Future Workforce in the Spotlight

(Sidney, Ohio – May 2025) – We were honored to attend the 4th Annual Workforce Partnership Signing Event in May, where a group of local students from Upper Valley Career Center officially committed to joining the workforce. It was a great opportunity to recognize their hard work and welcome the next generation of talent into the industry.

A key highlight of the event was the keynote address by Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Department of Development. Director Mihalik emphasized the importance of aligning education with the needs of local industries and encouraged the students to follow their passions. “The future of Ohio’s workforce depends on your drive and commitment,” she stated, inspiring both the students and attendees with her words.

Among the students honored were four from the Upper Valley Career Center in Sidney:

  • Cameron Cromes

  • Austin Crosslin

  • Dalton Earick

  • Eli McKenzie

These individuals have demonstrated exceptional skills and a strong commitment to their chosen fields. Ferguson Construction is proud to welcome them to our team, where they will gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects.

The event also featured a Business After Hours gathering, providing an opportunity for local businesses and community members to connect and discuss workforce development initiatives. This collaborative approach underscores the importance of partnerships between education, industry, and the community in preparing the next generation of workers.

Ferguson Construction extends its sincere thanks to the Workforce Partnership and the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce for organizing this impactful event. We look forward to supporting these students as they embark on their professional journeys and contribute to the continued growth and success of our community.
