PROJECT OVERVIEW
In 2022, Ferguson Construction was pleased to team with Rumpke Waste & Recycling to complete the Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility in Bloomington, Indiana. This new 25,000-square-foot facility plays a vital role in enhancing sustainable waste management for south-central Indiana.
Service trucks deliver recyclables and waste from residential, commercial, and institutional sources to the facility, where materials are briefly stored before being transferred to landfills or recycling manufacturers.
Ferguson Construction led the construction effort, overseeing all phases of the project—from site preparation and concrete work to steel erection and interior finishes. The facility includes an enclosed tipping floor and modern equipment for source-separated recycling, including a Machinex baler supported in part by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. A separate structure includes a maintenance garage and office space to support daily operations.
The site is expected to create approximately 50 new jobs in Monroe County, supporting the local economy. This project reflects Ferguson Construction’s commitment to delivering forward-thinking, community-focused building solutions.
